Conservatory Corner – 8.18.24

We hope that you have had a great summer. We are so excited to welcome you to our Fall Conservatory Session and for the exciting year ahead! We wanted to reach out with some important reminders and updates before our first semester is in full-swing.

Our first rehearsal is Tuesday, August 20th from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM in the Price Theatre Arts Building, Room 107.

Being punctual for our Conservatory rehearsals is crucial, especially with the limited number of sessions we have before the Utah Shakespeare Competition. Each rehearsal is a vital opportunity to refine our performance and build cohesion as an ensemble. By arriving on time, we maximize our time together and ensure that we feel prepared and secure in our materials that we are going to share. If you have any conflicts, please communicate those with us as soon as possible, so we can plan rehearsals accordingly. The doors to the Price Theatre Arts Building lock at 6:00 PM and can only be opened from the inside or by scanning a University of Utah Student ID, so please arrive early.

If you are joining us for our Fall Session and plan on attending the Utah Shakespeare Competition, please make sure that you have registered your student and selected the appropriate session within your ACTIVE Account to register and add those balances to your profile. You can login to do so by visiting youththeatre.utah.edu, navigating to the Drop-Down Menu, and selecting “Account Login.” We will be reaching out to the travel agents for each of our coming trips this year, so we will need an accurate headcount on the number of students joining us for each session and trip as soon as possible.

Auditions

Based on a collection of whimsical poems by Phillip Van Wagoner, Could You Hug A Cactus? is a musical revue that follows a group of kids as they come together to create a show that’s bursting with poems and creativity. One by one, they each share their imaginative creations, until a nervous performer panics and refuses to contribute a poem. Can the cast help him shed self-doubt and ignite a creative spark?
