Welcome to Youth Theatre at the U
Building Character for Lifetime Performance
theatre changes lives!
Youth Theatre at the U uses creative drama and process drama work as the foundation for its curriculum. Through our diverse programming, we strive to teach students valuable life-skills and give them a human experience through theatre. Our primary goal is not to create or train professional young actors. Rather, our primary goal is to develop the whole child using theatre as the medium to help them access emotions and explore complex issues.
Youth Theatre has a unique relationship with the University of Utah. As an entity of the Department of Theatre, the organization's staff is comprised of University faculty, staff, and students, complimented by a mix of professional guest artists from the Salt Lake community and the national young people's theatre community.
Youth Theatre at the U's productions are a product of work done in the classroom. They grow from an environment of learning and enrichment for the whole child. Young people are often involved in the entire creative process and development of productions.
